Is drinking water the same thing as running water?
Tap water and drinking water are two different terms and concepts.

Tap water: refers to the water produced after purification and disinfection by the tap water treatment plant and conforming to the corresponding standards for people's living, production and use.

Domestic water is mainly drawn from rivers, lakes and groundwater through the water intake pump station of the water plant. Surface water is treated by the water plant according to the "National Sanitary Standards for Drinking Water" after precipitation, disinfection, filtration and other technological processes, and finally transported to each user through the water distribution pump station.

Tap water is not generally used for direct drinking in mainland China, but is used in some parts of the world due to higher quality control standards.

Drinking water: refers to drinking water for people to live and domestic water. Drinking water includes clean natural springs, well water, river water and lake water, as well as treated mineral water and purified water. Processed drinking water comes in the form of bottled water, bottled water and piped water.

On July 1, 2007, the Ministry of Health and the Standardization Administration jointly issued the new "Drinking Water Sanitation Standard" (GB 5749-2006), which has three characteristics:

It has strengthened the requirements of organic matter, microorganism and disinfection of water quality, and increased the number of drinking water quality indexes from 35 to 106 in the original standard (GB 5749-85).

Unified urban and rural drinking water sanitation standards; Referring to the Guidelines for Drinking Water Quality of the World Health Organization, the drinking water standards are in line with international standards. Due to China's vast territory and different local conditions, all the water quality indicators in the new standards will be implemented by July 1, 2010 at the latest.

Article 99 of China's "Good Practice for the Quality Control of Pharmaceutical Production" (2010 edition) stipulates that water used for pharmaceutical production should be suitable for its purpose, and drinking water should be used at least as pharmaceutical water.Tap water and drinking water are two different concepts.

In the pharmaceutical industry, the lowest level of pharmaceutical water is drinking water. Considering the national conditions, most enterprises can only use tap water as the raw water for pharmaceutical water. If the water quality of tap water does not meet the standards of drinking water, pharmaceutical enterprises shall introduce tap water into the water preparation room for purification treatment. According to the regulations of Chinese GMP, tap water is not allowed to be used directly in the pharmaceutical production process (including hand washing and sanitary ware cleaning).
In principle, the drinking water project is a national project, and the water supply enterprise is responsible for transporting drinking water that meets the national standard to the water production room of each pharmaceutical enterprise. The drinking water quality criterion should not be limited to the equipment export of the water supply enterprise, but should be extended to the users of each water point. This responsibility misunderstanding is mainly that the municipal pipe network can not always transport to the enterprise in line with the GB drinking water, leading to the need for purification treatment of enterprises, in the process of self-purification of tap water, a series of pretreatment is included in the purification water dispenser "Chinese characteristics" misunderstanding.
